Ada Dellarso is legally blind. However, her lack of physical sight has not stopped her from seeing her way to better health and a new life. She embarked on a journey which began in 1981 to lose the weight which had slowly crept up to 287 lbs. and made her miserable for most of her life. Ada was determined to make positive changes and create her best self. She opted for gastric bypass surgery in 2007 and lost 138 lbs! Ada shared, “I am so happy -- I have never felt as good as I do now that I’ve lost the weight. My blindness has its challenges, but it does not mar my happiness. I am grateful to be alive!”
“When I look back to a year ago, I could not walk 50 feet without stopping to catch my breath. I had to stop and rest. I looked for ramps and driveways to walk on because I was so obese that my feet and legs could not support my body to walk up stairs or step onto a curb without falling.” Ada is exuberant and high on life now. She no longer has Type II diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnea and has exchanged 11 medications for 8 vitamins. “I have so much more energy and feel fabulous! I would recommend gastric bypass to anyone who has been struggling with weight – it can make a big difference in the quality of life. I now have a new lease on life!”
