Looking at Ellie La Fraugh today you would hardly guess she ever had a weight problem or has given birth to eight children! At 126 pounds Ellie is beautiful, exudes confidence and is trim and muscular with a healthy glow and a sparkle in her eyes. However, Ellie would be the first one to say that was not always the case. In 2000 at 5’ 4” and 234 pounds, Ellie was overweight, unhealthy, had low self-esteem and was unhappy with her appearance. She opted for gastric bypass surgery and has never looked back.
Ellie is continuing her education as a Nutritional Consultant, Personal Trainer and Fitness Therapist. She is also assisting the Center for Surgical Treatment of Obesity at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, California by speaking at the monthly informational seminars for pre- and post-gastric bypass patients. She encourages patients and motivates them to reach their weight loss goals following surgery, through "proper nutrition and exercising.” At St. Mary Ellie is known as the “ideal patient” and the female Richard Simmons. “I am so blessed to be able to share my life experience and help to teach individuals who are struggling with being overweight. I have so much more energy and have no regrets about having gastric bypass surgery – I would do it again in a heartbeat. I recommend weight loss surgery to family, friends or anyone who has tried to lose weight, but cannot seem to get it off and keep it off. I am healthier, slimmer and more confident – I am loving life!”
